The Ball Room @ Keele University |
Holding their year 11 leavers dance at Keele on Thursday the 7th of May were Blurton High, I had heard one or two rumours about this particular school, however as the saying goes never judge a book by the cover …. Read on!
We arrived at 4.00pm and were set and tested in good time giving us loads of free time to witness the array of Stretched Hummer’s Stretched pink Lincoln’s, Mercedes-Benz, BMW X5’s and the odd Peugeot 306 and Ford Fiesta dropping off close on 200 excellently turned out young ladies & gentlemen
With photos taken, welcome none alcoholic drinks severed, eventually the guests were seated amidst an audio-able buzz of anticipated excitement. Next a few words of wisdom from Mr Balukiewicz (head teacher) followed by brief chat and grace from Jamie & Leanne (head boy / girl) food was served.
During the meal we played background music as provided by Blurton High followed by requests from the pupils one such request was Show Me Love the Steve Angello & Laidback Luke remix, within the first 16 bars there were 10 girls on the dance floor by 32 bars there were 40 people on the dance floor followed by DJ Strobes remix of the Killers Mr Brightside and our floor was full….. Oppps how in trouble did I get as the meal was not over. After a quick announcement everyone was reseated
As proms /leavers dances go the official start to this one was very different with China & Tameeka singing one of their own compositions, with no backing music! Well done girls, followed by …… wait for it Banging House Music Nope!
A traditional Barn Dance followed by the St Bernard Waltz followed by the Gay Gordon’s not once but twice. All brilliantly done with both staff and pupils twisting turning in time under the watchful eye of Angela (dance instructor) and Judges Mrs Thomson & Miss Jones prizes were awarded to Jordon & Sharna for their efforts
Finally time for hands in the air and party, party, party and this we did from dance tunes to Guns & Roses, from the Conga to Bon Jovi , from cheese to even more cheese it was requested and therefore played.
Did you know that Girls Aloud the Promise was Mr Balukiewicz favourite song? No, well you do now
Every evening has to come to an end, it was all too sudden for my liking , the final speech of the evening followed by chocolates for the Mr’s and of course flowers for the Mrs & Miss’s
One last song the hands are raised the bodies sway, however just one last thing that I need to say and that is that Blurton High were the most polite, pleasant and well mannered group of young Ladies and gentlemen I have had the pleasure of working for in a long time …… FACT!
